Yoga has been around for a very long time. It has gained in popularity here for many reasons other than exercise. Yoga is good for stress relief. It helps you learn about good posture and healthy breathing techniques.

The fact is that the powerful benefits of yoga as an exercise are the same benefits that will help your dental health. How does an exercise regimen help to keep your oral health good?

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has several outcomes that benefit not only your overall health but your teeth as well. Stress relief, posture, and reduction of inflammation are the results that specifically help your oral health. But how do these things help, you may ask.

Stress relief is a rather obvious benefit for your teeth. High stress can cause you to clench or grind your teeth both when you are awake and when you are asleep. This can cause your teeth to get ground down or even chip or crack.

Correcting your posture can take the strain off of your jaw.

Yoga’s ability to reduce inflammation can directly help you to prevent gum disease. Inflammation is your body’s response to a harmful stimulus. The natural bacteria in your mouth can cause inflammation, which leads to gum disease. By reducing inflammation, yoga helps to protect your gums.
